BBPP-1

BackBoxx™ Popp™

Description

The deep BackBoxx™ Popp™, with its soft, flexible back wall, is our deeper speaker surround for all in-ceiling speakers, providing up to, and over 9-1/2" in depth, when needed. The convex back wall eliminates the need for acoustic dampening because back-pressure sound waves are dispersed.

Patented design protects ceiling speakers from moisture and dirt, keeps loose insulation out of eyes while installing speakers, maintains vapor barrier integrity.

Dimensions:16"x 24"x 5.5 - 9.5"

Quantity: 1,24

BackBoxx™ POPP™ Instructions

BackBoxx™ POPP™

  1. Place BackBoxx™ POPP™ horizontally into 24-inch-on-center ceiling joists, or vertically into 16-inch-on-center wall studs. (For narrower spaces, see Special Installation Instructions below).
  2. Using staple gun, attach all four corners of the BackBoxx POPP flange to the outward facing edges of both studs.
  3. Using a knife or awl, from the back side, poke open one Wire Dimple Locator™ in the back center of BackBoxx POPP (ceiling mount), or on either end of BackBoxx POPP (wall mount).
  4. Run wire through Wire Dimple Locator in BackBoxx™ POPP™ and leave generous slack wire BackBoxx POPP for later use.
  5. Seal opening around wire and Wire Dimple Locator with sealant.  Wall and ceiling vapor barrier film should be attached to BackBoxx POPP on the flanges using approved sealing tape.
  6. Speaker Note: When installing speakers, allow the speaker magnet to contact, and push on the dome inside the BackBoxx POPP.  The random crinkle pattern helps diffuse sound wave patterns on the back of the speaker cone.
  7. (Optional Step) Attach any speaker frame to stud faces, in front of installed BackBoxx POPP.

Special Note: For applications involving spray foam insulation, use our KrushGuard™ insert to prevent damage to the BackBoxx POPP.

Special Installation Instructions: To install BackBoxx™ POPP™ in smaller ceiling or wall openings, cut outside the dome area (if possible) of the BackBoxx POPP, from one flange to the opposite flange. Staple each half of the BackBoxx POPP in position separately.  Overlap each half and tape both sides of the BackBoxx POPP using approved sealing tape (such as mylar) and continue installation at step #3.
