BackBoxx™ JR™ Instructions

BackBoxx™ JR™  

  1. Place BackBoxx™ JR™ horizontally into stud wall cavity. 
  2. Using a staple gun, attach all four corners of the BackBoxx JR to outward facing edges of both studs. 
  3. Attach junction box or plaster ring to stud directly in front of the BackBoxx JR. 
  4. Using a knife or awl, make a small opening above or below junction box/plaster ring at the back edge of the BackBoxx JR. 
  5. Run a generous length of wire(s) through the cut opening into the BackBoxx JR. 

Using Closed Back Junction Box:   

Open breakaway tabs in top and bottom of junction box.  Run wires into junction box knockout holes, and back out the opposite holes.  Coil the extra wire up inside the BackBoxx JR. At finish, grab the wires inside the junction box and pull the extra wire free to do terminations. 

Using Plaster Rings:   

Coil the extra wires inside the BackBoxx JR, and if necessary, use tape to keep the wires coiled.  At finish, reach through the plaster ring and pull the extra wire free to do terminations. 

  1. Seal opening around wire passing through BackBoxx JR with sealant. Wall vapor barrier film should be attached to BackBoxx JR flanges using approved sealing tape. 

Special Note: For protection of wires inside BackBoxx™ JR™ from overspray of foam insulation, etc., cut off end of long flange at perforation and staple Extended Flange™ flap over junction box (or plaster ring) and BackBoxx JR.  Remove Extended Flap before drywall installation. 

For applications involving spray foam insulation, use our KrushGuard™ insert to prevent damage to the BackBoxx JR. 

Special Installation Instructions:  To install BackBoxx™ JR™ in smaller openings, cut straight down the center of the BackBoxx JR from one flange to the opposite flange.  Staple each half of the BackBoxx JR in position separately.  Overlap each half and tape both sides of BackBoxx JR on the overlapping seam using approved sealing tape (such as mylar) and continue installation at step #3.
